Before opening Senior Helpers of Salt Lake, Brett dedicated over 26 years to improving community health in California, Oregon, and Utah. As a healthcare leader in multiple systems, including Intermountain Health, he supported the development and operation of numerous services, clinics, and physician practices throughout Utah and the Salt Lake area. Brett has always aimed to make a difference, embracing the ideal of improving quality of life and helping individuals and families live their best, healthiest, and most fulfilling lives.
Inspired by this mindset, Brett found renewed purpose in applying his healthcare expertise to this new and deeply fulfilling direction with Senior Helpers. After spending a couple of years in Oregon, he and his wife Kendra returned to Utah to reconnect with their family and invest in the Salt Lake area communities he has long been involved with. Brett grew up in Murray, graduated from the University of Utah, and raised his family in South Jordan.
Brett and Kendra met in Minneapolis while he was completing his Master’s degrees in Business and Healthcare Administration at the University of Minnesota. They have four wonderful adult children—two sons, Blake and Braydon, and two daughters, Krista and Kalli—along with their dog, Coby, and cat, Cooper. They enjoy hiking, skiing, e-biking, photography, pickleball, fishing, camping, being sports fans, singing, church service, and spending time with family and friends. They love Utah, feel deeply connected here, and are committed to building something special where they have strong roots.
Brett deeply respects seniors for their contributions to their families, community, and the nation. He believes they deserve the support needed to maintain their health, continue leading enriching lives, have great experiences, and uphold strong relationships with loved ones while residing in the place they call “home” -- familiar surroundings where they feel most at ease.
Brett aims to educate spouses, supportive family members, and the community about the benefits of in-home personal care. He witnessed the stresses his parents endured and the challenges he and Kendra have faced in supportive roles as his mother and father have dealt with health issues together and individually in their later years. Finding the right course of action and determining the most effective way to offer support can be challenging, and the burdens are real. Balancing conflicting obligations, even with devoted family assistance, complicates these circumstances. In retrospect, Brett believes that an in-home care option like Senior Helpers could have provided significant relief and benefit to his family and parents if they had known more. This is true for many other families as well. As a young adult, Brett observed the contrast between a grandfather who went to assisted living and a grandmother who received help from a loving care aide at home, allowing her to stay there. There is no question in his mind about which option is better.
These are deeply personal situations and choices built on trust. Brett and his team of dedicated caregivers strive to earn and maintain your trust by consistently providing exceptional support and communication. They will share the unique resources and services Senior Helpers offers, customized for each client and family. Given the opportunity, they will partner with you to improve your individual and family situation and, in doing so, strengthen the overall community. Thank you for considering Senior Helpers in your continuing life journey!
