(February 2025) LAKELAND, Fla. - Valentine's Day is all about sharing love with your friends and family, but for the older generation, sometimes they've outlived their loved ones, making the holiday very lonely. on Christensen and his wife Sandi are volunteers with Viste, a Lakeland non-profit that delivers hot meals twice a week to the elderly. They mainly focus on frail elderly people who are shut-ins. (February 2025) MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Roses are red, violets are blue, and if you like Valentine's Day cards, this next story is for you! On Friday, Feb. 14, dozens of seniors at the Fountain Hills Apartments living community were surprised with handwritten cards from local students.Some had animals with funny sayings, while others featured typical holiday drawings like hearts and flowers.It's the second year in a row that Senior Helpers, a local organization, has worked to gather the cards. (February 2025) ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — As Barbara Brunick and her caregiver, Carol Davy, sit around a table playing Yahtzee, laughter drowns out the sound of dice rolling. The two women spend a lot of time together through a service called Senior Helpers of Austin. Davy helps Brunick get to doctor’s appointments and run errands but also provides companionship to the 85-year-old. “We get along!” Davy laughs.
