A Parkinson's diagnosis comes with a wide range of challenges, questions and concerns. Fortunately, there are local and national resources to assist you with many of the issues that come up. This is just a short list of some of the services and organizations available to those living with Parkinson's and their loved ones so you can find the help you need.
- The National Parkinson Foundation has a great Community Resource page that allows you to search for and access comprehensive care teams, local resources and services, support groups, exercise and wellness classes, education programs and more!
- The Michael J. Fox Foundation has partnered with AbbVie to create Partners in Parkinson's, which strives to fill in knowledge gaps, provide educational tools and resources for the Parkinson's community and to help patients optimize their care. They hold events, webinars and can help you find support and specialists within your local community.
- Your local Senior Helpers office is available to provide a wide range of services to meet your care needs. Whether it's simply transportation to and from doctors' appointments, medication reminders or personal care- they can help create a care plan to best suit your needs.
- Many people find that support groups are effective in helping them to cope with the day to day realities of Parkinson's disease. They come in all types of formats- from large, formal meetings to online and virtual groups.
