Santa's Senior Helpers: Senior Helpers of Southwest Pittsburgh was Featured on WTAE News
PITTSBURGH — Senior Helpers is a non-medical in-home care provider that services senior citizens. But for the first time, those caregivers put on their Santa hats and become Santa Senior Helpers. "The reason for the season is giving," said senior Bruce Bickel. It's the gift of caregiving Bruce Bickel said Darcell Smith has given him every day for the past two years they've worked together. "You really help take people from existence to living, and I'm so grateful for you, dear, because what you offer me. If I didn't have you, existing. Because I have you as my friend and aide, you take me from existence to living," Bickel said. 81-year-old retired pastor and Navy Veteran Bruce Bickel was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease back in 2015. His wife, Rebecca, is his primary caregiver. But two years ago, for a little more help, Rebecca hired Senior Helpers. That's when both Darcell and Bruce said their lives were changed for the better.
