The Top 4 Apps Caregivers Should Have Downloaded

In the Charlotte, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Gaston County areas and beyond, most people take advantage of mobile apps for fun or entertainment. We may also use apps to share our lives with others or to keep up in touch with friends and family. But did you know that there apps specifically designed to help make life a little easier and safer for your loved ones?

If you're a caregiver, there are a few apps that can help make life easier. From organization to communication, these apps can really come in handy.

Caregiver’s Touch

Keeping a journal or a log is a good idea. You'll need to track daily activity as well as medication dosages and times. Although keeping this information in writing is great, it's also wise to keep that same information on your mobile phone or device. Caregiver’s Touch is an app that provides a secure place to store pertinent medical information about your loved one, such as birth date, Social Security number, blood type, known allergies, etc. You can also choose to give family members access to the account. There is also a calendar so you can coordinate care among family members. The app is available on iPhone and the web.

My Health Care Wishes

The end-of-life decisions are the toughest you'll face. Death is something no one wants to discuss. Unfortunately, it’s something that you'll need to talk to your loved one about. The American Bar Association created the My Health Care Wishes app so you can upload your loved one's documented wishes, such as a living will or DNR. In case of an emergency, you can access the documents directly from your phone. The app features unlimited storage space. This app is available on iPhone and Android.

Snug Safety

If you can't physically check on your loved one daily, you can have her download the Snug Safety app. It's a daily check-in service that sends an automated notice to check-in via the app. Once there is a response, a motivational quote is sent. If there is no response for 10 minutes, emergency contacts are notified that the senior hasn't responded. Check-in times are set and consistent. It's easy for the user to either dial in or simply respond to the app notification. You don't have to be tech-savvy to operate apps like this.

RxSaver

Prescriptions can be pricey. The RxSaver app helps you find coupons to help save money on prescriptions — even with insurance. You can easily search medications by name and find available prices from local pharmacies within the Concord area. You set the radius you are willing to travel and you can even search for pharmacies with a delivery option. Once you select the pharmacy, the app will generate a coupon that you can either send to the pharmacist or show upon arrival.
