Access a Wealth of Information on Senior Services
At Senior Helpers, we believe in supporting seniors and their families to live amazingly fulfilled lives by providing flexible in-home care and senior services. Allowing your loved ones to age in place with a renewed freedom. In our time of working closely with our families and community, we have discovered that one of the best ways to encourage positive aging is by providing information on the area's best resources.
Area Agency on Aging
As one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation, the greater Charlotte area has become a popular place to live, work, and enjoy retirement. As such, there is an ever-expanding list of senior services. Looking for information on everything from transportation to home improvement and housing support? We encourage you to go online. Call the Centralina Area Agency on Aging or AAA.
What is the AAA?
The Centralina Area Agency on Aging is a supportive agency. Providing information, senior services, and advocacy that promotes independence. They preserve the dignity and rights of older and disabled adults and their families. The CAAA serves Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union counties.
Health and Wellness
Since the agency has a very specific mission and focus, it is one of the best places to access health and wellness information. You can attend helpful workshops. Addressing topics such as balance and avoiding falls, dealing with chronic pain, and living with diabetes. The agency also provides help to understand Medicare. Including all the options and application processes. They can also help individuals access programs that help pay for premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, and the cost of prescription drugs.
Transportation
Another helpful service the agency provides is Mobility Management. This service connects seniors that no longer drive to public transportation, human service transit, private transit, and volunteer transit options available in the region to get them to their needed destinations.
Family Caregiver Support
Often, before enlisting the help of live-in home care or overnight senior care, family members provide care. According to estimates from the National Alliance for Caregiving, during the past year, 65.7 million Americans (or 29 percent of the adult U.S. adult population involving 31 percent of all U.S. households) served as family caregivers. While done willingly and lovingly, caregiving can place a heavy emotional, social, and physical toll on the caregiver. The Family Caregiver Support Program provides training, information, and referrals to additional support. Such as respite programs. They can also help provide information on when it is time to enlist more help.
Managing life at any age can be difficult. But it can be made much easier when we have the right knowledge, resources, and support. We encourage all seniors and those that love them to become their own best advocate!
