May Day Baskets Bring Sweet Memories and Smile to Area Seniors

Senior Helpers of South Metro and New Horizon Academy of Savage announce 2024 May Day Baskets for Seniors!

[Minneapolis, MN] – Senior Helpers of Burnsville & South Metro is partnering with New Horizon Academy of Savage to make and deliver May Day Baskets to area Seniors to celebrate the coming of Spring 2024. The preschoolers at New Horizon Academy in Savage will be busy creating May Day Baskets and cards. Caregivers and staff at Senior Helpers will be adding a few special treats to each basket and arranging final delivery during the week of April 25th to area Seniors.

This will be a throw-back to Spring celebrations from their childhood years when many of our seniors would create their own handmade May Baskets and hang them on friends and neighbors’ front doors. Jody Dye (?) , Director of New Horizon Academy in Savage and Georgene Vesey, Senior Helpers Community Relations Director, believe that “it’s a mutually beneficial experience for the children to reach out and interact with the older generation.”

The caregivers at Senior Helpers know that Seniors, especially those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, respond well to activities they experienced in their youth. Preschoolers from New Horizon and staff from Senior Helpers are excited about their 2024 May Baskets for Seniors. They are planning on lots of smiles!
