Owner & President

“We love because He first loved us.”  -1 John 4:19

At Senior Helpers of the Bluegrass, it is our mission to honor God in all that we do.  This is no more evident than in our goal to love others as He first loved us.  We aspire to treat all of the Clients, their families and loved ones that we are blessed to serve with the care, dignity, and respect as we would expect for our own family.

Gabriel began his personal journey serving Central Kentucky seniors and their families over 15 years ago.  He joined Senior Helpers of the Bluegrass in 2017 as the Director of Operations, became an owning partner in 2018, and sole owner of the company in 2021.  His desire is to lead Senior Helpers of the Bluegrass to serve aging adults and their families by guiding them through the aging process and provide solutions for meeting their personal needs by offering the highest quality of care possible. Gabriel has been a member of the Bluegrass Continuity of Care Association, has served on the Bluegrass Elder Abuse Prevention committee, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee, and the Next Best Years of Your Life conference committee, previously served as Vice President of the Kentucky Association of Senior Services, and serves as Treasurer of the Bluegrass Aging Consortium.  Gabriel was born, raised, and currently resides in Lexington. He considers himself richly blessed to share the journey of life alongside Blair, his bride of 25 years and counting.  Together they’re joys in life are their two sons, Isaiah (daughter-in-love, Keagan) and Caleb, spending time with their grandchildren, Dylan and Blake, working their farm, spending time at the lake, and Gabriel fitting in a round of golf when possible.  “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised…” -Psalm 48:1

"Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.  Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth." -Psalm 71:8-9

Blair Huffman

Blair Huffman

Vice President

Blair began her career serving seniors and their families in 2010 but her heart and passion for taking care of others has been a focus of her life from a very young age.  Loving, playing with, and helping her special needs younger sister throughout her life engrained in her a foundation of compassionate care which translated into her college studies in Therapeutic Recreation and her early careers serving multiple families as a nanny and later working for nine years as a nursing assistant.  Before joined Senior Helpers of the Bluegrass in January of 2019, Blair patiently and loving cared for her father with Alzheimer’s until he went to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus.  Since then, she has applied her gifts and knowledge of caring through recruiting, hiring, training, and building lasting relationships with the professional Caregivers and staff that she feels blessed to employ.  Her desire is to hire and coach employees to be the best versions of themselves in service to aging adults and their families by helping them to provide the highest quality of home care possible.  Blair was raised and currently resides in Lexington. She has a deep love for animals (dogs and horses being at the top of that list) and enjoys any time she can spend in the peacefulness of the country, whether on her farm or just taking a country drive.  Blair is happily married to her husband, Gabriel, and loves every moment she is blessed to spend with their two sons Isaiah (daughter-in-love Keagan) and Caleb and can’t get enough hugs, kisses, and “snuggies” with her sweet grandbabies, Dylan and Blake.

Our History

Our History

Senior Helpers was founded in 2002 by Tony Bonacuse with the help of Peter Ross after their firsthand experience in caring for their respective family members. Tony and Peter identified a need that was not being filled properly by the other companies. They realized that most seniors would prefer to age in their own home rather than move into an unfamiliar institution. Unfortunately, the options available to most seniors were very limited. Most seniors did not have access to well-trained, dependable and affordable in-home care. This was the mission-driven spark that started Senior Helpers.

The first office opened in Baltimore, and quickly developed a reputation for delivering excellent in-home senior care with their well-trained staff of professional caregivers. Based on the success of the Baltimore location, the company began to expand. Over the past 13 years, the Senior Helpers family has grown to include a network of more than 300 locally owned and operated franchises across the United States.

Senior Helpers of the Bluegrass was proud to join the system in 2009. Like every other owner, we too are fully-committed to the original goal of providing dependable and affordable in-home care with well-trained caregivers. Nothing is more important to us than being the best available resource for seniors and families in our community.

Our team has grown to include 8 team members, and 90 caregivers. We have been lucky to serve hundreds of seniors in our community over the years, and we are committed to continuing to provide uncompromising levels of care to all our families.
