Sorry I have not written anything new for a while. I had my wonderful foreign exchange daughter of 26 years ago along with her two children come for a visit. I consider myself very blessed in many ways but when I took in Julie for a school year when she was only sixteen, I had no clue my life would be so enriched all these years later. It was exciting having her here, with fun-filled activities and I got to say, it was exhausting!
Now back to work. The next thing that makes me go “hmmm” is when our wonderful seniors purchase and pay for a long-term care insurance policy, but they never want to start a claim. When you are 85 or 90 years old, can no longer drive or take a shower by yourself, what are you waiting for?
If you think that you should not file a claim against your long-term care insurance, give me a call. I will look at your policy, see if you qualify, explain how long a time period is to be covered and for the total face value the policy will provide. We can see if the best time is now to start a claim or if you should wait.
I really hate it when I go to complete an assessment and the family is deciding if now is a suitable time to start a claim but then their mother dies before any claim has been filed. This has happened more than once and it really infuriates me when all the money has been paid for many years by our seniors, but the benefactor loses out on a better quality of life because of fear or something else, I am not sure.
