Join Senior Helpers of Polk County for the “Dear Senior” Valentine’s Card Drive

At Senior Helpers of Polk County, we believe in the power of small acts of kindness to make a big impact. This year, we’re thrilled to host our very first “Dear Senior” Valentine’s Card Drive—an initiative designed to spread love and brighten the days of seniors in our community through heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards.

How You Can Help

From now until February 7, we invite everyone—schools, businesses, non-profits, churches, and individuals—to participate by creating or signing Valentine’s Day cards. These thoughtful gestures will be delivered to seniors living in senior communities, receiving in-home care, or who are home-bound.

Where to Drop Off Your Cards:

A Special Event for the Community

We’re also hosting a card-making event at our office on Sunday, February 11, from 1 PM to 3 PM. Families, friends, and community members are welcome to join us for an afternoon of creativity and connection. This event is a wonderful opportunity to make cards, learn more about senior care, and share in the joy of giving.

Delivering Smiles Across Polk County

The collected cards will be delivered to seniors on February 12, 13, and 14 in collaboration with senior living communities, Veteran and community in-home care providers, and meal delivery services like Meals on Wheels and VISTE. Each card is a reminder to a senior that they are loved, appreciated, and not forgotten.

“A simple card can brighten a senior’s day and remind them they are not forgotten,” said Jorge Giraldo, MBA, CEO/Owner of Senior Helpers of Polk County. “Loneliness and social isolation are significant challenges for many seniors, and this campaign is a meaningful way to show them they are cared for and appreciated.”

Last Year’s Success

The “Dear Senior” campaign, launched last year by the Senior Helpers corporate office, delivered an incredible 30,000 cards nationwide. The campaign received widespread media coverage and touched countless lives. This year, our Polk County team aims to collect 3,000 cards to share love and raise awareness about senior isolation.

Why Join the “Dear Senior” Campaign?

  • Combat Senior Loneliness: Many seniors face social isolation, and a thoughtful Valentine’s Day card can brighten their day.
  • Connect with the Community: Bring people together for a common goal that truly makes a difference.
  • Support a Worthy Cause: Join us in enhancing the quality of life for seniors in our community.
